A band is a subculture... people with similar likes and dislikes and a mutual respect and love of the music they play.
Break Nek formed in November of 2000 with no direction other than the need for an aggressive metal sound. By the time the group's line-up had solidified, the sound of the band had been established. Mixing power with speed, the band developed a thrash style reminiscent of early 80's thrash, but with updated sounds and sensibilities pushing them to the forefront of the new millenium.
With the addition of Joel Gentry as lead vocalist in June of 2001, it was just a matter of time before the band gained the recognition of their peers and of their fans. BreakNek revamped in early October of 2003 with the addition of drummer Jon Kober. He helped add an exciting hardcore element to the already explosive sounding band. Everyone immediately felt his impact as he tweaked beats and pushed his imprint into already established songs while also jumpstarting the creative process with new music. Once again in mid 2007, BreakNek endured yet another lineup change, when Kober took over bass playing duties and BreakNek recruited former Trudge drummer Chris Miller. Chris's hard hitting, driving drum beats easily meshed from day one, and finally, BreakNeks hatefilled sound assault was completed. There is only one step left in BreakNek's strive for glory...................................................
